So it’s been a while since I have blogged. So what’s new? The big fridge in the kitchen no longer cools or freezes. When it’s plugged in the fan/motor does come on and the light comes on when it’s opened. The Saturday after the power came back on after Hurricane Helene I noticed that the fridge felt warm. I opened up the freezer and everything was thawed out and there was a puddle of water at the bottom. Fantastic. So I updated FEMA and I have not heard back on that and it’s been a month and a half. We do have a mini fridge that we have been using but it’s been tough as a family of 4. Thanksgiving is coming up so I don’t know how we are going to work that out because we don’t have a lot of space. We don’t go all out like we used to do because it’s just the 4 of us. Elijah doesn’t eat the stuffing or the veggies. Wyatt doesn’t eat anything but the mashed potatoes. I have the turkey. What we may have to do is freeze the turkey and stuffing that we don’t have the space for in the mini fridge. I am really hoping to have a new fridge before Thanksgiving. The fridge that we have is not very old. In fact we just got in in May. I don’t know if I should call FEMA back or not. Mom is also talking to Home Depot. We did have somebody come out to take a look at it but he was here for all of 5 minutes because he said that the wires for the plug needed to be rewired and a simple switch of the outlet from a 2 prong to a 3 prong isn’t going to be acceptable. We had an adapter since we moved here. We’ve had issues with the plug staying in the outlet and all the homeowner did was send somebody out and they replaced the adapter. I’m not an electrician so I don’t know if what was done is good enough or not because from what the guy was saying they needed to do $8,000 or more worth of work and had to get behind the wall and ground it to the meter. I told the guy this and him and this other guy were here for like 20 or 30 minutes and they changed out both outlets in the kitchen that needed to be changed and there was no getting behind the wall or anything like that. I don’t own this house and if I did I would completely demolish the house and get rid of everything and start with all new materials. I don’t want to own this house honestly. It’s not big enough and there’s not enough bathrooms here. I am hoping and praying and crossing all of my toes and fingers that we will get a new fridge before thanksgiving.

Elijah and I no longer have our Max Fitness memberships. Our friend canceled it because she wasn’t using it. It’s been canceled for about a week or so now. Her reasoning is similar to mine. She wasn’t using it and she needed the money to go towards a new car. In 2015 I had signed up for a Workout Anytime membership and it opened in May 2016 and it was the day I found out I was pregnant with Wyatt. I was like a kid on Christmas. I was also working, taking care of Elijah, going to college and pregnant so I was not using my membership very much and it wasn’t worth the cost. There wasn’t any child care because up until the pandemic it was open 24/7 but I didn’t have child care to go any time I wanted. Then I stopped working and focused on college. I have not gotten a job yet since graduating college or after having Wyatt. Workout Anytime doesn’t have any group fitness classes. I did go to one Les Mills Body Pump class and a few yoga stretch classes. I really enjoyed those classes. As far as the rest of the gym, along with Workout Anytime, I felt out of place and some of the machines I don’t know how to use. I did get to try out barbell and I still definitely want a barbell with some plates to add to my collection to have even more of a variety. There’s still stuff that I wanted to do but never got the chance. I’ll get a chance. I do feel more confident working out at home. With my time at the gym I realized that when I start personal training I do want to work with people who don’t have a gym membership because they don’t know what to do at the gym or they feel out of place at the gym. I thought I would be more motivated to workout at the gym because it was out of the house. Max Fitness does have child care but there’s a 2 hour limit. While you can get a good workout in 2 hours I just felt like I couldn’t exactly do everything that I wanted. I had to plan to get to the gym and Wyatt into the kid zone at the right time so I could go to the classes I wanted to do when he was on breaks and still get back in time to pick him up. I have dumbbells and kettlebells and resistance bands at the house. I need to get a new yoga mat as mine is getting old and starting to thin out a bit. I want to get a vegan suede one from Blogilates. She has some at Target. She came out with a wider version on her website that I would love to have.

I have been off of my workout routine since the kids have been off school for fall break last month. I did go to the gym a few times both while the kids were in school and with Wyatt. Elijah didn’t want to go without his friend so he got left at the house. Wyatt and I did complete our first 5K together last month. We have another one coming up on Thanksgiving. The third 5K isn’t until March so there’s more time to train. SO I need to get back into my training schedule of weight lifting, cardio and yoga/pilates. The next week and a half while the kids are in school I am going to be walking downtown after I take the kids to school to get back into a walking routine. Today I walked less than a mile at the lake at church. I have still been doing my weekly 5Ks on the rowing machine.

So here are my thoughts about my very first in person 5K. I knew I could l walk the entire 5K. It was outside with nice weather in the morning. It took me and Wyatt almost 2 hours to complete. The trail was well marked with colors for the different runs. I did run at the beginning for about a minute or two and then walked the rest of the way. My favorite part was it was in the woods. There were hills. I enjoyed going down hill much more than going uphill. I enjoyed being in the woods and the clean air and clearing out my mind. I did not like the very last uphill. It was very uphill and very big. Wyatt and I had gone trunk or treating on Sunday and he wanted me to wear a halloween shirt and all I had was my shirt from the 5K and somebody had done the 5K and hated the hill as well. I crossed the finish line and got my medal and an adult beverage. I remained injury free until after the race was over and after we ate some food and I had an adult beverage and after I had gone to the bathroom. I found the hole by the pavement and stepped in it. I did not fall but I did twist my right knee. Leading up to the 5K my knees and hips were bothering me so I did have my daily collagen peptides and even for a while after the 5K. I did soak in the bathtub with some epsom salt a couple of times. My knee does feel so much better. I did join a free program called Tortoise to Turkey 5K but I don’t like the trainer. I would like to improve my 5K time and maybe run the one in March at the airport. Wyatt is too old for the kids fun run at the airport in March. He turns 8 in January and the cut off is 7. He really wants to go back to the airport for the run. I have not signed him up for the run at the end of April yet. It may just be the 1 mile fun run for him as I currently don’t have the money for the 5K for either one of us at the current moment. I am going to look into a longer 5K training program because the one I found and joined is only 20 days and I’m not sure if the dude is going to add any more. In the app it says there’s going to be a 5K in 45 days. I know the trainings are out there and I would like to spend at least the first of the year training for it. I know that there are people who walk and run around my town. I may try parking at my house and then walking to where downtown is because it’s not that far from where I live. It’s basically a straight line and all I would have to do is turn left out of my driveway and then turn left at the stop sign and go straight. Then once I get to where the shops are turn left and at the end of that section of shops cross the street and go on that side of the road. Then go straight at the intersection and cross the street and go down that road and cross the road to get back onto the side of the road that has the sidewalk and then go home. It should take at least an hour. I’ve thought about parking the truck before I go home after dropping the kids off and just walking that road and then go home.

My sister Deb just did her 3rd craft vendor show and I sent up some crocheted baskets and floral coasters. The last time she sold 2 of the smaller coasters and this time she didn’t sell any of them. She didn’t sell much of the baked goods she had. It was a huge bummer. I was hoping that all of our stuff would sell. She’ll have a bunch of things for the next time so I won’t be so stressed trying to get it all done and making sure I have all of the colors and having the time to work on the coasters and the baskets. I do hate making the baskets tho. The baskets are definitely not my favorite. I don’t know when her next vendor show is or where this one was at. One of these vendor shows will be successful for both of us and we’ll sell everything.

Since August I have been trying to figure out why I’m so tired and irritable and why I’m gaining weight and not losing it. I’ve had some blood work done already. There’s been some mixed reviews. In one test my insulin was high and in the next test it was normal and in that test my triglycerides are high. My hormones are normal. I am waiting to hear back on my sleep test that I’ve done. I’ve been to the gynecologist and I’m going back next month to do a few things. I had an abnormal PAP smear last month at my appointment so we are going to run some tests for that. Hopefully between the appointment at the end of this month and next month I’m hoping to find out exactly what’s going on. I really just want to feel normal and lose the weight and keep it off. I want to be confident in my own skin.
