A couple of weeks ago I attempted to donate blood but my veins said no way. I was still able to get the points to get a $70 gift card. I decided to get an Amazon gift card. The first thing I got was a barbell set which has been delivered. It originally was supposed to be delivered between June 2nd and June 5th but was shipped and delivered last week. YAY! I had some funds left over from the gift card. I was watching a video from Red Leaf Ranch, Brian, about his garden and he has purple broccoli. It’s a little too late in the season to be planting broccoli or cauliflower. I ordered a packet of purple broccoli and a variety pack of cauliflower. I will plant in the fall. I have some cabbage, regular broccoli and leafy greens to plant in the fall.  For all 4 packs of seeds from Amazon I only paid $1.15 out of pocket.

Last night Elijah and I used the weed whacker on the thick green grass in the backyard. It’ll need another round of weed whacking. Elijah put the one batter on the charger last night and I put the other battery on the charger this morning.  Our lawn mower is not starting this year and I’ve looked at reviews on the brand’s website and on a video on YouTube. At some point the boys and I will take it to the one lawn and garden shop to be looked at but not starting the next season seems to be a common problem. I don’t know what we are going to do. I weed whacked around the garden beds. We put the grass clippings in the compost bin.

My garden is definitely growing this year. I am so grateful to have been able to expand and have double the space this year. This year I was able to plant in the spring and I’ll be able to plant in the fall as well. I’m still learning. There’s always something new to learn about gardening. Things like what works and what doesn’t. I have learned this year that marigolds don’t transplant well in my garden but do so much better starting from seeds. I’ve had like 6 or 7 marigolds die that I bought from Walmart and the high school. The marigolds that I have started from seeds directly sown into the ground are doing amazing. I’m not bashing the plants from Walmart or the high school because we have gotten some other plants from there that are doing absolutely amazing. I have transplanted just about everything from the cups that have been growing. Some of the seeds haven’t started yet. My pepper seeds are finally starting to sprout! YAY! I am hoping to be able to get a variety of colors of peppers this year. I am excited to see the abundance that comes out of the garden this year. The sage that I planted in 2023 and 2024 came back for another year. I did plant 2 more sage plants in the pot and it is looking so full and lush. The thyme that I started from seeds is growing and I have 3 pots this year of thyme and I will have plenty of thyme. My favorite thing to do with the sage and thyme is to make tea out of it. The basil that I started from seed is growing so well. I may or may not have gotten excited about the extra space and may or may not have planted extra herb seeds. I only have 3 rosemary plants right now and it looks like some of the seeds are starting to sprout. Since it’s the beginning of June I may not have the best of luck getting more rosemary plants. I can look around at some of the places I know may have it and if I need to I will go to the local plant nursery. I know a lot of people have put in rosemary plants weeks ago. I am thrilled to have the plants that I have and I plan on making the most out of everything I am growing. I have not watered my garden in over a week now due to the rain that we had last week. My sunflowers are also growing and I have a few zucchini growing on the plants. I am excited about the flowers that I was able to plant this year as well. I’m trying to bring in the pollinators to help with the garden.

Did you know that you can take the stems off of the tomato plants and replant them into new plants? I did that last year or the year before and I have done it again. So far one of the stems have taken root and is starting to grow! That means more tomatoes for me! I have flowers on a couple of the tomato plants and I can’t wait until those flowers turn into tomatoes and get in my belly. I also have some flowers on the cucumber plants and I can’t wait until those flowers turn into cucumbers and get in my belly! I love gardening and picking fresh herbs and veggies.
