It’s the last day of 2024. This year has really flown by so fast. It seems like the year just started last week. So much has happened this year.

Today is a nice enough of a day to where I can open up some of the windows in the house. Out of all of the windows I can open up 4 of them. I have one open in the kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom open. The others either don’t have a screen or are sealed shut. I have both of my bedroom doors open to air out my bedroom. There’s a high of 71 and low of 40 today. The rest of the forecast has highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s and 30s. Getting as much of the old air out as I can and letting new air in.

Both of the kids have gotten their flu shots this year. I normally don’t get one. They are around people more often than I am while they are at school. This year and maybe last year Wyatt has gotten the flu. I normally don’t get sick very often.

I set up a PayPal business account and got a card for that. The goal in 2025 is to start taking clients and doing challenges. I have a small following on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. There is a TikTok ban that is going to take place in January and I am hoping that by some miracle that ban goes away. It’s a great source of income for those who are getting an income and it’s a great way to share small businesses. In the last month or so I have been able to go live on TikTok. I haven’t had any comments yet that are inappropriate like on Instagram and YouTube. I haven’t quite figured out my program yet to start taking clients. The kids go back to school on the 7th so I am going to sit down and figure out cost and what I want to have in a program.

I have gained 16.6 pounds this year. I think the biggest factor has been stress. I have 2 kids and child support for my youngest has apparently stopped again. The last check I got was back at the beginning of July which was great for getting things for school. At the end of September we had Hurricane Helene and it took 2 months to get a new fridge in the kitchen.

I’m not going to make any new years resolutions. They don’t seem to last very long in general. I am going to work on my goals. My goals are to do a variety of exercises using the equipment that I have. Wyatt and I have a 5K in the middle of March that I’ll be training for. I found a few training plans that I am going to pick out the best one for. I want to do better at the next one than I did at the one in October. One of my goals is to increase my protein, water and fiber. I want to not only lose the 16.6 pounds that I gained this year but I also want to lose at least 30 or 40 pounds by this time next year and be closer to my goal of 200 pounds. Walking, rowing, weight lifting, yoga and prioritizing sleep are all going to help with that. I don’t know if I will sign up for more in person 5Ks or continue to do them virtually on the rowing machine.

I do have a word of the year. I don’t always have a word of the year. I allow the word to come to me and the word for next year is THRIVE. I want to be in a better spot physically, mentally, emotionally and financially at this point next year and thriving in those areas. There are so many things that I want to do in life both with and without the kids.

One of my biggest regrets of 2024 is not doing the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving with Wyatt. When I woke up that morning it was raining so I just let Wyatt sleep as long as possible. They were predicting some heavy storms but the weather turned out to be really nice and it only rained for a little while on Thanksgiving. We have the shirts that we never wore and the Christmas ornaments that we never hung on the tree. As the day progressed I did beat myself up for not going and Wyatt said we should have at least done the one mile. If I was able to turn back time and do Thanksgiving all over again and go to the 5K and then do the rest of Thanksgiving and wake up the next morning to it being today. It’s the one thing of this year that I wish I could go back and change. Maybe the time would have been better than the one in October because it looked like it was flat. Wyatt and I did leave a little early for packet pickup and walked around a little bit. The medals would have been nice to have as well and Wyatt and I usually complete the in person races together. We’ve completed 3 together this year and we have 1 next year that we are going to complete.

Here’s to a better year next year. Goodbye 2024. Hello 2025.
