CYL Week 1 Review and Week 2 and 3 Goals

Since my last post I joined a challenge that is basically what I have been wanting for the last quarter of 2025. I am subscribed to JashiiCorrin on YouTube and last quarter she decided she was going to do a CYL, or Change Your Life, challenge for quarter 3 and is going to do a round 2 of the CYL for quarter 4. Quarter 4 technically starts on October 1st but with the way she has been bullet journaling she’s starting quarter 4 on the 29th of September but said if you like a Sunday start you can start on the 28 of September. There are at least 2 reasons why I’m starting early. One being the kids are officially on fall break starting on September 29th for 2 weeks and it’s harder to get things done while they are home. Two being why wait? Why wait to start doing things when you can get started right now and get as much as you can done. I don’t know how many people in the group started early like I did or how many people are starting today or tomorrow. Since I have started on a Sunday all of my weeks will have a Sunday start. I am doing one weekly video on my vlogging channel and that’ll go up on Sunday mornings at 9am. I’ll try not to make them incredibly long. On the weekends and during the kids fall break I will get as much as I possibly can done. My main goals are to declutter the house one room at a time for 30 minutes at a time, work on my health and fitness, and self care.


Week 1 review. Out of 7 days I decluttered for 3 days getting 3 different surfaces cleared off and wiped down. I swept the floor after each day. I also washed my face before bed 4 of the 7 nights and exercised twice. Once at home and once during the monthly yoga class. I also turned 40 yesterday. I also finished one of shawls and started on the second one. The goal is to finish the second one by Tuesday so I can put both shawls and the granny square blanket on the Tedooo app to sell. Fall break and weeks 2 and 3 goals. The kids are home from school and I’d like to get the boys room decluttered. I’ve already talked to Elijah about doing 30 minutes at a time to declutter their room. Every once in a while he’ll get a cleaning bug and clean up in his room but gets overwhelmed and has to ask for help. Decluttering the kids room doesn’t have to happen every single day but a few times while the kids are on fall break. I certainly didn’t declutter every day last week in the kitchen. Jaime gave me 2 of the boys old bedframes that are still in good shape and Wyatt has asked about when I’m going to get his set up. I told him as soon as I can get that space cleaned out. One the days that the kids do not have appointments and I’m not helping Elijah declutter in his room I want to finish decluttering in the kitchen and exercise when I can. I do want to increase my sleep and get at least 7 hours of sleep starting this week.


Today on week 2, day 1 I am going to clean out both the main fridge in the kitchen and the mini fridge in the laundry room. I am going to get all of the tupperware containers out of both of the fridges and toss what is old. There shouldn’t be too much to toss as I have only been making a few things at a time while mom is house sitting. As of right now she’ll be back on Thursday from house sitting unless Imelda comes to visit us. As of right now we are not certain about where she is going. It should take me about 30 minutes to get both of the fridges cleaned out. While I have the bucket of Mr. Clean water I am going to tackle the inside of the microwave. I have already emptied out the dishwasher, refilled it and washed up the dishes that didn’t go in the dishwasher. I made myself a fancy drink with the fancy brand of edible glitter.


In the kitchen I have the fridge, inside of the microwave, the cabinets, the drawers and wiping down the cabinet doors and the door to my bedroom. Once I am done with everything I will sweep and mop the entire kitchen and just keep it tidy with small daily actions. After the kitchen will be the laundry room. As of right now I am not going to worry about decluttering the cabinets in front of the washer and dryer. I am going to do the cabinets we are using as a pantry, on top of the washer and dryer, and the floor. It should only take me a few days to get the laundry room done and that may happen after fall break is over. I will tackle whatever is left in the kids room after I am done with the laundry room. Then will be the living room and then my bedroom. The bathroom just needs weekly cleaning. Mom is on her own with her bedroom. Folding and putting away laundry is also on the list. That may just be a whole separate decluttering time period. I know Wyatt has some clothes that are too small for him. 


My birthday was yesterday and I will say that my 40s started better than my 30s ended. My 30s ended with a hurricane that knocked the power out by 5:15 Friday morning that lasted until Monday about 4:30pm. Fortunately it was not miserably hot last year and we were able to keep the windows open while we lost power to keep the house cool. It did rain on my birthday which I don’t mind. The only thing I didn’t want to do is go play baseball. I got 2 new pillows and a rice cooker. Last year I didn’t get cake because everything was closed but I did get cake this year. Wyatt ate the majority of it which is fine. We went to Food Lion together and he picked out the cake and the candles. He asked if there were any purple candles because he knows my favorite color is purple and I told him there were only pink, blue and green. He picked out blue candles. After we got home from playing baseball I told the kids that I wanted to just sit and crochet a little bit. After I get the fridges cleaned and the trash taken out I am going to also sit and crochet some more. 


For lunch, or dinner, I am going to use my new rice cooker and make some rice and use the 2 pack of thick cut pork chops I got yesterday on manager’s special for $1.96. I got a container of pico de gallo on manager’s special for $2.39. I don’t know how much it originally is but I’ll use it for something. I am going to plug it into ChatGPT and see what recipe it gives me before I make it. I am going to attempt to make the pork chops thinner so they will cook quicker.
