April Update

It’s been a while since my last blog. April was a bit of a busy month for me. The first two weeks the kids were on Spring break. The first week of Spring Break was intercession where the kids go if their grades are below a 60% or have missed to many days. Both kids went. Wyatt went because of being at the social emotional learn school and Elijah because of his grades. Wyatt went all 4 days. Elijah did not go the whole time. The kids have had appointments and meetings. I started planting the hot weather crops in my garden. I had to replant a bunch of seeds because of the rain. The cat litter boxes are good if you have a green house, which I do not have right now. I had to replant some seeds. I kept the cups that had plants growing in them and replanted a few of them in the garden bed. I’m waiting on some of the other to get bigger. I probably should have put the pepper and tomato seeds back in the cups since I had enough dirt before planting them in the ground. Lots of lessons learned. When I replanted in the cups I put the cups directly in the pots or the garden beds. Better drainage that way. I did go to Yoga in the Gardens in April. I have enjoyed the classes so far. The Yoga instructor does have some paid classes that are a bit longer at a couple of other places but I think I will stick with the YouTube videos for right now.
I have a 2 week break from appointments and meetings that started yesterday. Today Wyatt’s school did an Earth Day lunch and activity where parents were invited to eat lunch outside and make a craft. For Wyatt’s class it was bird feeders. The teacher gave the students some Cheerios and pipe cleaners. You string the Cheerios on the pipe cleaners and then hang them up on a tree branch. In 2 weeks the kids have weekly therapy appointments and Elijah has a virtual visit with his father who is incarcerated. Wyatt also has an appointment with the developmental specialist.
In June Elijah has an appointment with the neurologist and Wyatt has an appointment with his doctor. I’ll be signing Wyatt up for a week of day camp at the church. I don’t know if Jaime is going to sign Archer up or not. If she does I told her that since David has to be at work at 8am and camp starts at 8am that I could drop both kids off and she can pick them up at 5pm. I think it’s a fair trade. I don’t know if I’ll be sending Wyatt to overnight camp at the church this year or not. It depends on if I have the money.
While we have a break with the appointments and meetings I want to focus on exercising and getting clothes folded and put away. Folding and putting away clothes is my least favorite thing to do which is why I don’t do it very often. I am going to figure out how to fix the chain on my bike. I had taken it off to replace the back tire and inner tube and now I can’t figure out how to get it back on. My bike changes gears and I can’t get the thing hooked back up. I do have to put a new inner tube in the back tire because I think I busted the other one when I was putting in the new tire. I really just want to ride my bike again. I have Wyatt’s bike fixed. I put some new inner tubes in his tires and oiled up his chain. I don’t know if I am going to keep the new chains or not. It depends on if I can find a video on how to replace them and how to break a chain.
We don’t have anything planned for on the weekends until at some point in August at this time. It’ll be nice to not be on the go so much. The last few weekends we have been to Easter egg hunts, a fun run and the fishing rodeo at the canal. All great and fun activities but I’m tired. I know that some seasons are busier than others.
It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring! I’m glad that I paid attention to the weather today. I didn’t water the garden this morning because the weather said there was a chance of rain/storms this afternoon and tomorrow morning and possibly on Sunday. The garden responds better to the rain than the hose but the garden just wants watered. I am so grateful for the rain today and for the extra gardening space. Some of the hot weather crops are starting to sprout and grow. I can’t wait to try out some of the other basils like the lemon, cinnamon, and licorice varieties. I’m glad that the cups are in the garden beds and pots for better drainage. I can’t wait to see how much I am going to harvest this year. I am so excited for the garden this year. I still wish pap was here because I want to show off and ask questions. They were both really good gardeners and had different things. I don’t know if either one of them had okra in their gardens so I guess I have something they didn’t have. If we get a break in the rain later I am going to go out and open up the compost bin. Moisture is important for the composting process.
